My Natural Hair Was Fighting to Be Free. I Was Taught to Hate It.

My Natural Hair Was Fighting to Be Free. I Was Taught to Hate It.

Real Talk.

I find it completely unacceptable that I was chastised, teased, and bullied over my natural hair that would not stay straight.

But that was my reality growing up.

Straight hair was non-negotiable. It was not a preference, it was an expectation. A standard I was measured against before I was old enough to understand why. And when my hair refused to cooperate, I was the problem. Not the standard. Me.

The Rules of Straight Hair

When I finally got my hair straightened, the rules began.

No playing too hard. No swimming. No skating. No working out. And a lack of good sleep because I sweated in my hair and sweat was the enemy of straight.

I sat out at the pool while everyone else jumped in. I skipped the skating rink. I moved carefully through my own childhood trying to protect a hairstyle that was never really mine to begin with.

Trying to maintain straight hair was literally impossible for me, unless you had a relaxer.

And I did not.

What My Hair Was Actually Doing

Here is what nobody told me then and what I want every woman reading this to hear now.

My hair was not broken. It was not difficult. It was not a problem.

My hair was simply fighting to get back to its natural state.

The same natural state I had been taught to hate.

Every curl that sprang back was not a failure. It was my hair doing exactly what it was designed to do, coiling, shrinking, protecting, and thriving in its most natural form.

The problem was never my hair.

The problem was a standard that was never built for women like me.

Why I Created Classic Curlz

I left a 30 year corporate career to build Classic Curlz. And when people ask me why, this is the real answer.

Not because I saw a market opportunity. Not because I ran the numbers on the natural hair industry.

Because I was that little girl sitting out at the pool.

Because I know what it feels like to be told your hair that grows out of your own scalp is not acceptable. Not professional. Not beautiful. Not enough.

Classic Curlz was created for every woman who was told her natural hair was the problem

For every girl who ever sat out while everyone else played just to protect a press that was fighting to revert anyway.

For every woman who has spent years, dollars, and tears trying to be something her hair was never meant to be.

And for every woman who is finally ready to stop fighting her hair and start embracing it.

Your Natural Hair Was Never the Problem

The natural hair journey is not just about products. It is not just about curl definition or moisture retention or edge control.

It is about unlearning. About reclaiming. About looking in the mirror and seeing beauty where you were taught to see a problem.

Classic Curlz exists to support that journey with a complete aloe based moisture system that works with your natural hair, not against it. Sulfate free. Alcohol free. Paraben free. Built for every curl, every coil, every texture, every woman.

And if you are tired of fighting your hair and ready to embrace it, Classic Curlz was created for you. Every moisture rich product in this system was designed to support your natural hair journey from the inside out.

Because your hair was never the problem.

You were always enough.
